Required Qualifications

Experienced Telecom Technician

Location: VT

Job Description

Experienced Telecom Technicians splice and test fiber optic cables in aerial, underground, and indoor environments. Attention to detail is critical while testing locations and termination points, and ensuring proper fiber optic network construction.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outside, is able to overcome obstacles, and is willing to be part of a hardworking team in telecom. The position requires extensive travel in the New England region, including overnight stays and on-call opportunities, due to the fieldwork involved in the job.

Position Type

• Regular, full-time, non-exempt position

Salary Range

• $30.00 to $40.00 per hour

What you will do

• Perform testing with Fiber Optic related equipment including OTDR, PON, and OLTS equipment
• Read instructions, specifications, and blueprints to determine work activities
• Safely operate bucket trucks and other job site vehicles and trailers
• Work independently for long periods of time
• Complete and maintain excellent records of splice diagrams, patch panels, and test results
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
• Respond to service disruptions on 24-hour basis
• Work with specialized off-road equipment such as tracked and all-terrain vehicles

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years proven experience in the splicing, testing, installation, maintenance and repair of fiber optic networks and/or outside fiber plant
• Prior experience using telecom splicing and testing equipment (preferred)
• Self-motivated team player
• Valid driving license and clean driving record
• Extensive travel in the New England region including overnight stays
• Background check and pre-employment drug test

Telecom Technician – Apprentice

Job Summary

As an apprentice technician you will learn to splice and test fiber optic cables in aerial, underground, and indoor environments. Attention to detail is critical for testing locations, termination points, and general fiber optic network construction. The ideal candidate can work independently and as part of a part of a team. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $20 to $22 per hour depending on experience. Telecom Splicer is a field position with extensive travel in the New England region including overnight stays.

• CT, MA, VT

What you will do:

• Work with technicians splicing fiber optic cables, using splicing equipment
• Learn to read instructions, specifications, and blueprints to determine work activities
• Learn to safely operate bucket trucks and other job site vehicles and trailers
• Learn to complete and maintain excellent records of splice diagrams, patch panels, and test results

Requirements:

• Ideal candidates may have previous education or experience with electronics or telecommunication
• Valid driving license and clean driving record
• Ability to travel in the New England region including overnight stays

Telecom Lineman – Apprentice

Job Summary

As a Telecom Lineman Apprentice, you will perform aerial and underground fiber optic line construction, maintenance and repair of telecom networks. Every day will be different in a dynamic, safety-first environment. The ideal candidate embraces working outside, overcoming obstacles, and being part of a great team! This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $20 to $25 per hour.

Where:

• The Telecom Lineman is a field position with extensive travel in the New England region, including overnight stays. We currently have work in CT, RI (including Block Island), Central and Western MA, and Brattleboro VT.

What you will do:

• Learn to operate cable placing equipment, including bucket trucks and reel trailers
• Learn to safely climb telephone poles and ladders
• Learn to read and understand engineering plans and construction prints
• Learn to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
• Learn to work with specialized off-road equipment such as tracked and all-terrain vehicles

Requirements:

• Valid driving license and clean driving record
• Frequent travel in the New England region, including overnight stays
• Background check and pre-employment drug test
• Successful candidates will have previous have attended lineman/ utility classes experience, or working in landscaping/ tree services

Telecom Service Installer – Experienced

Job Summary:

Telecom Service installers are responsible for connecting fiber optic service from the aerial or underground telecom utility location to the inside of a home or business. In addition, installers will troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade existing fiber optic services. Telecom Service installers maintain regularly scheduled installation appointments and interact with home and business residents. The ideal candidate can work independently and as part of a part of a team. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $23 to $28 per hour depending on experience.

• MA, RI

What you will do:

• Perform installation of new service and performs service calls
• Pre-wire single dwelling units and multiple dwelling units (MDUs) to provide ready hook-up capabilities
• Provide materials to educate the customer on the use of the equipment
• Safely climb ladders
• Read and understand engineering plans and construction prints
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field

Requirements:

• Previous service installation experience or knowledge of VoIP, cable, or data networks in residential and commercial applications required
• Valid driving license and clean driving record
• Extensive travel in the New England region including overnight stays
• Background check and pre-employment drug test
