Rhode Island’s First and Only Municipal FTTX Network
Sertex designed, built, and operates the FTTX network for the Town of New Shoreham on Block Island.
Completed in December 2022, it includes 41 miles of backbone construction and 62 miles of new underground service drops, providing service to 1,800 homes on the remote island.
Our customer service group completed in-home connections in May 2023, and we continue supporting BroadbandBI with year-round network operations, maintenance, and emergency restoration services.

Our team was honored to be part of the festivities on Block Island on June 3, 2023, with dignitaries including Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and Rhode Island’s Secretary of Commerce Elizabeth Tanner.
