Bringing Fiber Internet to Block Island

Building Rhode Island’s First Municipal Broadband Network for the Town of New Shoreham

After 15 months of make ready and permitting, construction of BroadbandBI, the municipally-owned fiber broadband network currently being built on Block Island, is well underway.

Located 12 miles off the Rhode Island coast, Block Island is a unique year-round island community. The BroadbandBI network will change everything for residents, visitors, and businesses when gig speed connections to every premises on the island are completed in 2022.
