Sertex Celebrates a Milestone Connection with Crossroads Fiber
Congratulations to Crossroads Fiber’s 5000th customer connected to municipal broadband in Chicopee, MA.
Crossroads Fiber, the state-of-the-art, municipally-owned 100% fiber network operated by Chicopee Electric Light (CEL), celebrated a major milestone on June 27, 2024 when Sertex crews proudly installed the fiber connection for the 5,0000th customer.
Sertex crews have been hard at work for years building and installing the Chicopee fiber-to-the-home network fiberhood by fiberhood and house by house. Once completed, the network will encompass 144 fiberhoods, each potentially serving 150 to 250 homes.
Crossroads Fiber construction began in May 2019. Since then, Sertex crews have completed approximately 75 percent of the anticipated work, which includes aerial and underground construction, splicing, testing, and in-home installations.
